At Deaf Hill and Kelloe Primary School Federation, we are an inclusive school and we consult with a range of agencies and partnerships to ensure the Emotional and Social Development needs of SEN children are met. We believe that high-esteem is crucial and aim to support and promote the emotional wellbeing of all children. We follow the Happy Centred Schools Programme which is taught from EYFS to Year 6 and focusses on teaching children skills around coping skills and supporting each other. The class teacher has overall responsibility for the pastoral and social care of every child in their class, therefore this would be the parents’ first point of contact.
We work closely with the Local Authority and Private Providers of additional services, such as Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapy, CAHMS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service), Social Services and Medical Professionals.
As a school we have a positive approach to all types of behaviour with a clear reward system that is followed by all staff and pupils (Team Points). We also give out ‘Star of the Week’ certificates on a Friday and send positive messages on Class Dojo to praise good work and effort.
If a child has behavioural difficulties this is discussed with the parents / carers and monitored in school. Appropriate support and interventions are put in place to support the child.
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
