Curriculum – Art & Design

Intent

A happiness filled, vocabulary rich, experiential adventure ...

Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. Our high-quality art and design education engages, inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they develop a range of vocabulary enabling them to think critically and demonstrate a more rigorous understanding of art and design. Each child has a sketchbook where their thoughts and ideas are recorded. Pupils are given the chance to express their feelings about famous pieces of art and to use their emotions to help in the creation of their own artwork. Teachers strive to use the local environment to enhance the artistic experience for all pupils. Where possible, links are made with artists in school, online and during educational visits.
