Welcome to Year 3
Our Curriculum
This term in Year 3 and 4 it is a busy but inspiring one. In English we are basing our reading and writing around our class novel ‘The Land of Roar’ by Jenny McLachlan. In Maths Year 3 are building upon their understanding of multiplication and division along with developing their skills in measuring. Year 4 are working on fractions after revisiting multiplication and division. In Science our topic is ‘states of matter’, where the children will work scientifically to conduct experiments and answer their own enquiry questions. In History we will be learning all about ancient Greece and the early Olympics. Our DT topic will be based on our History topic, and we will be researching, designing and sculpting a Greek pot. We will then evaluate our finished piece and discuss how we could improve it in the future. In Music we are fortunate enough to have a very talented music tutor coming in to teach us how to play a brass instrument. In PE, we are covering gymnastics and will be practicing the individual skills required and putting it all together in a gymnastics circuit. In Religious Education we are expanding our knowledge of different religions around the world and will be focussing on Sikhism.
